[Ten feet off the ground is actually a reassuring way to find the other girl when Tifa gets into the area. As far as the scavenger hunt's gone so far, Tifa's been pretty unscathed - but recently there have been flickers of light across her skin, helpfully circling harvestable body parts as they come and go. She's busy absently trying to shake out the glowing rings around her fingers when she spots Vriska and some of the tension in her face relaxes despite the situation. She'll leave her greeting as:]

Wow. Nice boots.

Yeah. Cool, right.

[Vriska's pretty somber, as she has been for a few weeks now]

I'm gonna guess you can't fly.

[Tifa doesn't know Vriska well enough to have a baseline to judge her current emotions on and it's not as if they're meeting for exactly cheerful reasons to start with. So she'll pick up on the somber mood but it doesn't occur to her that it might be from things other than the current ones.

though... she did see Loki's post. Anyone the troll felt close enough to to do that, it has to hurt when they're gone...]

Only in the middle of a fight and that's not flying so much as - well, fighting. [She'll pick her way over.] Is that common where you're from?

[Vriska glances around quickly for threats on the ground; seeing none, she lands]

Nah. These are special.

[she taps a boot]

So, uh... I guess I'm supposed to ask how you're doing.

[Tifa can't help notice that Vriska trusts her enough to land and it means something. She's not about to comment on it but - she appreciates it considering how crazy some others seem to have gone.

She offers a smile but it's more rueful than real.]

You could but I don't think either of us are really doing well. Do you have any idea where he'll wake up?

I'm doing okay. The death price is probably the biggest problem here.

... He'll wake up in about a week.

[Tifa will exhale through her lips. She's never had death in this place hit quite so true and she's still having a hard time reconciling it to the literal death she's well acquainted with back home. So far she's managed to avoid really facing what it means... but that's getting harder.

She'll deal with it the best way she knows how.]

Okay. So first we need to find his body.

[And then... she doesn't want to ask because she doesn't want to know but she needs to so after another inhale:]

What's the usual death price?

[OOC: hmmm maybe they should split off before that? In later threads I've already had Vriska tell Zell she didn't find him in time.]

It can be anything. But it's usually something big; something important.

[Tifa will frown at that, pausing in what she's doing for a moment as that sinks in. Then she'll look at the other girl.]

Have you - ever died here?

Yeah, during an event. The Animus trapped a bunch of us in the mall and told us we had to kill each other, and a lot of people did it.

I remember that. I'd just gotten here. A few of us tried to get inside to everyone but -

I don't know. I still haven't figured it out, so it was probably a memory.

That must be - frustrating. I'm sorry. Is there any way to get what you've lost back?

Nope. I don't think anyone's ever gotten a death price back. If they have, they kept it secret.

[Tifa won't say that's horrible because it's not as if she actually has to tell the other girl what Vriska already knows much better than she does. She still feels the gut punch of it though and so she goes quiet for a long moment. She can't help Vriska with her lost price, and it breaks her heart a little especially since the other girl is being so stoic about it, but maybe there's still time for - ]

Maybe... it will be something we can give him back. Something we know or could help him with instead. [A firm nod.] Even if it isn't, he'll still be Zell. That won't change.

Yeah.

[she shakes her head]

[Tifa's really good at the 'ignore it and maybe it will go away' routine but even if she wasn't, Vriska's right. There's nothing they can do until it happens. So she'll nod back in response.]

Mm. You're right. Let's find Zell first.
